downloading firmware 6.1.2

when i download firmware 6.1.2 from various websites it downloads as a zip folder with no ipsw file in it. why is this and how can i rectify

you are using  a bad site then .. thankfully it wasn't exe files you were downloading (or worse installing them!) ...

ATTN IC ADMIN (@hotsjf @Cosmicalninja ) a good idea would be to link to this website from tutorial or support forum ... hands down best IPSW website ....

this seems to be linking via the same site as others. am i meant to see an ipsw file visually in the folder?

it should appear in whatever folder you udownload to , then u need to do shift + restore in itunes (or if not try cntrl + restore ) to select its location

major problem.. now really need help. did all that but as it was doin a restore my fone switched off to blank screen and it told me restore not possible when I connect to itunes it tells me restore fne. but when I try restore after extracting file it gives error code sjmin like 3194. and tells me it cant do it

the easiest way of sorting it out is...to rename it.ipsw! It actually works.

 

And the 3194 error. Check you havent got the Cydia Host address in your Hostfile. It is used to go up and down firmwares, just like you are trying to do. But the Apple update server doesnt like it.
