Remote wipe and auto-erase on jailbroken devices

I know you're not supposed to use reset/erase from Settings on jailbroken iDevices. Does this also mean that using a remote wipe (via iCloud) or auto-erase (after N incorrect PIN attempts) should not be used (e.g. in case a device is stolen)?

Those would generally do the same as the reset/erase and would send you into a bootloop

So is there any suggested workaround for jailbroken devices in such cases?
