Lets face it, some of us would like to keep our existing jailbreak and not forfeit it by jumping on to the bandwagon of 10.1.1 hoping beyond hope that Qwertyoruiop brings out a jailbreak only for Apple to stop signing it 5 minutes after the jailbreak comes out. There is help at hand.

Since 64 bit devices came along TinyUmbrella was no longer useful*, blobs saved on older devices (pre iOS 5) meant that the jailbreaking community could move around iOS versions with ease using SHSH blobs.

*with an update TinyUmbrella began to save blobs for a number of devices this came about for 8.1.2:

A7 Devices:

  • iPhone 5S
  • iPad Air
  • iPad Mini 2
  • iPad Mini 3

A8 Devices:

  • iPhone 6
  • iPhone 6 plus
  • iPad Air 2

The art of saving SHSH blobs has taken a real back seat with the main focus being on actually finding exploits for jailbreaks and the fact they are becoming scarcer.

This leads us nicely on to the tool Prometheus and the glimmer of hope that we can once again downgrade firmware and therefore be able to jailbreak when an exploit is available and not worry about Apple releasing fixes and us accidentally upgrade.

Prometheus is a tool created by tihmstar with a potential release date of New Years Eve for already Jailbroken 64 bit devices. Once again it is for 64 bit devices only and i already hear a groan but as these jailbreaks are slowly coming out the woodwork they are for the newer devices, we cannot halt progress.

The best part about it is that there is a companion tool called tsschecker which without no fuss at all will save your blobs in a handy zip file of the current firmware that Apple is still signing.

Things you need for tsschecker:

  • iTunes
  • A lightening cable
  • A 64 bit device

Plug in your device and load up iTunes, head over to the summary page and click on the serial number until you see the ECID -Note this down. Keep on clicking and you will find your Model Identifier - Note this down.

Take yourself here and enter the information you took from iTunes. Wait mere seconds. The next page will show you the blobs available to you in zip files with a handy button saying "Download .zip". You can also send them straight to dropbox if you wish or Google Drive.

If you lose your blobs for any reason then have no fear use http://tsssaver.1con...m/shsh/"decimalECID"where "decimal ECID" is your own ECID or use the Lost your Link option lower on the page.

As i said at the beginning of this post, right now there is no way to use the blobs, but come New Years Eve there may just be a way.

@MRWTF, Are you jailbroken on any iOS version? If you are then stay, but if you're not jailbroken then update to 11.3.1 right now.

You can downgrade while iOS 11.3.1 is still being signed. You can check here: ipsw.me. After it stops being signed, youre most likely out of luck.

11.4 sep is compatible with 11.3.1
11.4.1 will not be

as for blob saving on A10/11 devices Coolstar has stated the following nonce's are required.

15400076bc4c35a7c8caefdcae5bda69c140a11bce870548f0862aac28c194cc

tsssaver by conan will probably do the above automatically.
so if you saved it before try and do it again to make sure your blobs are with the above nonce's
