The reason some of us need Appcake 5 was (kind of) described in the thread "why i cannot use appcake on ios 8?" But I believe the OP failed to make his point. So in response you must have thought he was asking an Apple question about upgrading his iOS. Not everyone can.

I have an old iPad 2 with iOS 8.x that cannot be upgraded either. And yes, the "globally forced" prompt to upgrade to Appcake 6 caused problems for many people, as older devices that cannot be upgraded past iOS 8.x also cannot use Appcake 6.

But Appcake 5 on the other hand, was, and still is, working fine! As evidenced by the applist still populating, updating, and showing new items in the background behind the ill-fated prompt.

Essentially everyone was forced to upgrade to Appcake 6, because the prompt would not let you continue without upgrading and would simply close Appcake if you said No, even though the current version was still usable and working perfectly. I believe it is safe to say (and not in a insulting way) that you failed to take into account that it would leave all those users with older non-upgradable devices in the dust.

At the very least, it should have warned everyone with something like "oh by the way, it only runs on iOS 10.x or higher" before the upgrade process started. Because it removes a fully functioning Appcake 5, attempts to install Appcake 6 (which is not compatible in the first place), and leaves the user with no option to reinstall Appcake 5 because it is no longer on the repo. So sadly the user is left with nothing at all. (No functioning version of Appcake available anywhere.)

The older legacy Appcake 4 that IS on the repo does not work properly with iOS 8.x. (Nothing populates in the applist and you end up with Appcake showing nothing but a blank white screen.). So I hope you can see our problem. It is definitely not an Apple issue we are talking about.

If you can possibly make Appcake 5 available again (the final version just before Appcake 6 was released, but without the globally forced upgrade prompt) you will make a whole bunch of users with older functioning jailbroken devices very, VERY happy.

Thank you for your time and keep up the great work!

I was under the impression that the servers were the same, and that AppCake was simply an interface pointing to them, regardless of which version we were using. I misunderstood.

I guess we can still go to the AppCake site to download apps and use something else to install them, right?
